COVID-19 Guidance

COVID-19 Guidance

Good evening UABC families.
I hope this email finds you safe and doing well.
I wanted to reach out and let you know that the UABC Board of Directors are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely. It is very fluid and could change at any moment.
We closely follow the Governor’s orders and OHSAA policy with regards to COVID-19.
We are also being advised by a physician regarding ALL COVID-19 policies and procedures for the UABC program.

At this time, we are still ON for practices and games for this season. We MUST continue to be very mindful of the COVID-19 protocols and do everything we can to ensure the safety of our participants.

Here are several updates and guidance for players and coaches:

  1. Student-athletes and coaches should continue to complete daily symptom checks and temperature checks at home prior to EVERY practice.
  2. If a student-athlete or coach exhibits any symptoms, it is imperative that you STAY HOME and use caution. DO NOT come to practice or a game if you have any symptoms.
  3. If a student-athlete tests positive for COVID-19, the student-athlete’s guardian should immediately notify their child’s head coach AND Jason Graves, (upperarlingtonbasketballclub@gmail.com). If a coach tests positive, he/she should immediately notify Jason as well.
  4. Each circumstance, of a player or coach who tests positive, will be examined on a case-by-case basis, to determine possible exposure(s), quarantine, etc.
  5. If a student-athlete or coach tests positive within 48 hours after a practice/contest, the entire team will need to quarantine for a 14-day period per Franklin County Health Department.
  6. Any student-athlete who has tested positive must present a doctor’s note clearing them to return to play, after they have completed quarantine requirements and are symptom free. This is mandatory. A negative test does not count as physician clearance.
  7. Coaches must continue to wear masks during the entire duration of their time with student-athletes.
  8. Players may choose to wear a mask during practice. Our coaches will certainly support that decision and they will make sure other members of the team support it as well.
  9. Communication is key! Please continue to work with your team and their families to open lines of communication regarding positive tests, symptom checks, and exposure to any close contacts who have tested positive.
  10. If a student-athlete shows ANY symptoms of COVID-19, the UABC Board of Directors strongly suggests a negative test to return to play.
  11. If your family would like for your son to temporarily opt out of participation at any time, we support that choice. He will not lose his roster spot, or be penalized upon return. Please communicate this decision with his head coach and Jason Graves.

We are in constant communication with the Upper Arlington City School District and if anything changes with our ability to use the school facilities, we will update you immediately. We will provide further guidance on game day policies and procedures over the next few weeks. There will be spectator limits for all of our home games.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Communication is critical and we want to hear from you if you have any concerns.

Thanks for a great start to our season. Stay safe and Go Bears!
Jason
